3 Tips for Your Next Professional Profile Headshot: Columbus GA Auburn Opelika Headshot Photographer

Wes RobertsComment

We’ve all done it! We’ve scanned through our phones to find the profile picture that just absolutely says “this is me, this is what I’m about”. While images of you on the beach or eating your favorite dinner with your special may speak to family and friends, how does it really speak to those you don’t know or those who could potentially hire you for a role in their business?

This is where having a professional profile headshot can help you rise above and set yourself apart from the “competition”. Did you know that most employers will scan an applicant’s personal social media to get an idea of who they are and if they would make a good fit for the business? So having a great headshot is essentially making a great first impression.

With that said, I know not everyone feels comfortable in front of a camera, especially in a studio setting; it can feel intimidating and a little awkward. So what do you do if that’s you? Here are a few tips to get you through it and to come away with a few images that you’ll like.

!. Practice: I know it sounds crazy but looking in a mirror and actually practicing your smile will help. It gives you the opportunity to notice things and then correct them. If you’ve never been a fan of big smiling with teeth, then practice what a soft smile is or even just smiling with your eyes. Simply, it makes you aware and allows you to accommodate.

2. Small Talk Before the Session: One of the things I do even if it’s for a brief few minutes is try to make who I’m photographing feel as much at ease as possible with a bit of small talk. It can be as simple as “tell me about what you’ve been up to today” or me just asking questions about what you do or your background. My goal is to get you talking and comfortable so that you really don’t even realize we are easing into the session. You might want to initiate this if your photographer doesn’t.

3. Laughing: As silly as it sounds laughing is a natural expression that can be contagious and leaves the viewer with a sense of warmth or happiness. Remember the “first impression” mention? So don’t be afraid to add in a few laughing looks…even if it’s a fake laugh…which usually turns into a real laugh.

and I’ll give you a bonus tip….

4. Go In With A Game Plan: Give a little thought to what you might need these images for. If you are a realtor, you might need a good smile or soft smile for any speaking/conference you attend. But you may also need a good warm smile or laughing photo for marketing material that will connect with potential clients.

I hope these tips help you get some images you’ll love and be able to use. If you are a realtor, entrepreneur or small business owner in the Columbus GA, Phenix City AL, Opelika AL or Auburn AL area and I can help you with some headshots or need marketing material, please reach out to me, and let’s chat to see what I can help with.

Wes RobertsComment

Hey y'all! We are excited to release our Fall mini-sessions and we will have two dates and two locations to meet the need of our clients.

October 29th we will be in Columbus, GA at the Columbus Botanical Garden
November 12th we will be in Auburn, AL at Kiesel Park

Both locations offer beautiful backdrops and will allow us to get some beautiful images of your family!

The Fall Small Sessions will include 15 minutes of session time (ideal time so that you don't hear complaining), 6 digital images of your choice and because we want you to walk away with something tangible, I'm including a 5x7 print of each of the 6 digital images you choose (a $240 value).

Fall Small Session is $220

I love how digital images allow us to share with the world our families and lives but I believe that physical prints bring light into the living spaces of our lives. They are tangible and constant reminders of what's important in life.

Here is the link to my schedule calendar....FALL SMALL SESSION CALENDAR

Wes Robert Photography: SENIOR WEEK and a GIFT

Wes RobertsComment

Who's excited about the new year? I have to say, compared to the previous two years, this guy is! I, hopefully, like you, feel that the new year is time to make memories and set into place things that should have been done last year but slipped through your fingers. One of the promises I'm setting into place this year is to photograph my family more. Yes, I'm a professional photographer and I rarely take professional pictures of my own children. I know, right! If you are like me, let's resolve together to do this and let me help you get those pictures around your home.

Now to the gift!!!

For my upcoming Seniors who are graduating and haven’t done a senior session or my 2023 Seniors, if you book your session next week, starting 1/9/22 - 1/15/22, I’ll give you a $300 credit voucher to be used towards your order. This will be the only time I offer this gift. If you have a friend that has a senior or one that is upcoming, send this to them quickly so they can schedule a session.

Hop over to our IG and FB accounts to see this the images picked out for “Senior Week”

I was overjoyed at the quality of time and effort shown by Wes at my son’s session. He made my son feel comfortable in front of the camera and the pictures came out amazing
— Jawan M.
Over the past seven years, Wes has taken all three of our sons’ senior portraits. He spent time with each of them to get to know them and their pictures reflect their personalities. It was such a great experience!

Wes not only takes incredible photos, his ability to show my senior’s personality was unparalleled.

Wes Roberts Weddings: Chris and Callie

Wes RobertsComment

As I sit here and think back on all the blessings I’ve had this year on the business side, this wedding was one that was extra special. From my first conversation with Callie over the Thanksgiving holiday last year, I knew this wedding was going to be great. She was on top of things and had already picked out the beautiful barn venue Dalrymple Farm, which did not disappoint even amongst a pandemic. The farm is a working farm with cows and horses that you’ll see throughout the pictures.

Some big thank you’s go out to The Petal Pusher from Ashford, AL for making some beautiful arrangements really making Dalrymple Farms glow. To Faye Jacobs for the amazing food and Tara’s Temptations for the beautiful brides cake and grooms duck cake. And the Bo Henry Band for providing some great party music that kept the wedding guest dancing. Also, Callie Smith and her beautiful artwork of the reception. A tremendous thank you goes to Tiffany Hughes for partnering with me on this wedding; she’s always amazing and so much fun to work with!
